YEAR 3: Extreme Survival - Printing

 

Connecting

We started by connecting with the Inuit artist 'Kenojuak Ashevak'. We explored her brightly coloured prints and paintings of animals.

                                   

                                   

                                   

Observing

We then used photographs of sea creatures that are found around 'Baffin Island' which is where the Inuit artist 'Ashevak' was from.

Designing

We each chose a sea creature to design our own 2-layer print.

Creating

We drew our design into a polystyrene printing plate using a ball-point pen.

We used blue printing ink for our first printed layer.

We then had to wash the printing plates so that we could draw the rest of our design to be able to print our second layer in black.
