YEAR 6: RE Art Project

Is it better to express your religion in arts and architecture or in charity and generosity?

In Year 6 we explored a range of Christian and Islamic artwork and architecture in detail and discussed how they are important to each faith. The children explored the colours, shapes and themes and experimented with a range of media.

We explored what work Christian and Islamic charities do for many people around the world.

The children then had to decide how they were going to answer the key question and design how they could express this through artwork. It is brilliant to see how differently they all responded.

YEAR 3: The Egyptians

In Year 3's Egyptian Art project, we started by looking at a range of some of the incredible artwork (paintings, sculptures, carvings and crafts) that the Egyptians produced. We were amazed at the colours and distinctive style in a lot of the artwork.

We then studied the variety of headdresses that were worn by Egyptian Pharaohs looking at the colours and shapes that were used.

The children came up with their own designs for an Egyptian headdress imagining that they were a Pharaoh.

They created their headdresses out of collage. They used a black and white photo of their face and created patterns out of different coloured paper and card.

KS2 ART CLUB

 Under The Sea

The theme for our KS2 Art Club was ‘Under the Sea’ and it was linked to being environmentally friendly.

The children started their art project by looking at different sea creatures and studying their shapes and patterns. They explored their ideas by using blue ink freely on large paper.

Once they had decided what creature they wanted to create, they started to build the shape using different recycled packaging and taping it together.

They then covered the shape of their creature with papier-mache and layers of tissue paper.

Once the creatures were dry, the children added detail and patterns with paint and stuck on different features.

Their fantastic creatures are on display in our intervention room and they look fantastic! Well done Art Club!
