Year 1 have been learning about Picasso and studying some of the cubist portraits he painted to inspire them to design their own dinosaurs in the style of Picasso.
Connecting
We started our project by reading 'Picasso's Trousers' by Nicholas Allan and looking carefully at some of his portrait paintings.
Exploring
We recapped the colour wheel and experimented with how colours can be mixed to create cool and warm colours.
Observing
The children created a self-portrait in the style of Picasso either using warm or cool colours.
Creating
They then designed their own dinosaur in the cubist style of Picasso. They chose whether to use warm colours or cool colours for their dinosaur. Don't they look fantastic!
